We’re excited to share our big day with you. We’re especially excited for all of the people making a special trip to California. Here are some tips on getting the most value for your money when booking your travel online.
Tip #1 – Destination Airport:
The airport code for Santa Barbara is SBA. It’s a municipal airport, there for can be fairly expensive to fly into. It will most likely be less expensive to fly into Los Angeles area, meaning LAX, BUR (Burbank), LGB (Long Beach). You will need to rent a car since Santa Barbara is about 80 miles away from from LA, but the drive can take 1.5 – 3 hrs depending on traffic.
- Kayak.com is a great source for finding cheap airfare.
- Bing is another great site for booking flights.
- If you book on Travelocity, I can extend a 10% discount on airfare and hotel packages, just use code VAC10PQ210 when you check out. This code is good until April 30, 2010. Feel free to use it on any other travel you might be booking.
Tip #2 – Car Rental:
Most likely, renting a car will be necessary. You can add it to a package if you book on Travelocity.
- Hotwire usually has good deals on car rentals.
Tip #3 – Transfers:
There is also a regular shuttle that picks up at the LAX terminal and delivers you to downtown Santa Barbara. Round trip (LAX-Santa Barbara-LAX) is $56 per person for groups of 5 or more and only about a 75-90 minute drive (depending on LA traffic). Looking at flight costs, I think it’s significantly less to fly into LAX and shuttle up to Santa Barbara and, given typical connection times, will probably take about the same time or less.
They have 14 shuttles a day between Santa Barbara and LAX so if your flight is delayed you can catch a later shuttle pretty easily. If any of you plan to take this option let me know and we can arrange transportation from the drop off point to your rental house or hotel.
Tip #4 – Accommodations:
There are many hotels in Santa Barbara, here are a couple would recommend. A 10% discount is available, just use code H10PQ210, also good through April 30, 2010 and valid on any “Good Buy” hotel stays booked on Travelocity.
